Chapter 11 – Halka's reveal

"Well, Halka?" Rajkumar waited patiently for Halka to answer. Kala turned her head a bit to look at her with curiosity as well. Halka just shrugged casually.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she said calmly like he was asking something utterly stupid. Rajkumar's jaw clenched hard.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about!" he said loudly and furiously. Halka jumped a little in surprise and got a look on her face that appeared almost miserable. "All the stuff about me and Kala. How do you know that if you're just a cat?! And that crack in your head from the attack back at the pride. It would've killed you, yet you jumped on your feet like nothing happened!"
"Leave her be, Raj," Kala interrupted and shoved his shoulder lightly with her forehead, but Halka shook her head at her.
"It's okay Kala," she said silently. "He's right. I've been keeping secrets from you."
Kala's curiosity rose and she settled down next to Rajkumar to listen to Halka. The cat smiled at Rajkumar.
"Seems I don't give your intelligence enough credit," she said cheerfully to Rajkumar. She took a deep breath and sighed heavily, her face suddenly stern. "I am not of this world."
"I knew it, she is a demon!" Rajkumar started at Kala before Halka could finish.
"Well, credit's out of the window," Halka mumbled ironically to herself.
    "So you are a demon?!"
    "No, I'm not a demon!"
Halka breathe heavily for a moment for shouting so loudly. Even Rajkumar had taken a step back in astonishment. It left her with enough room to finish her explanation.
"I'm from the spirit world. I came here for reasons that are confidential. I'm not a cat in any way. In fact, I can shift shape."
Rajkumar's mouth fell wide open. Kala thoughts were a little more rational, and she just raised an eyebrow.
"If you can shape shift, why did you choose a cat?" she asked suspiciously.
Halka could not contain her irritation about her earthly form and almost unconsciously burst out:
"Because my idiot assistant didn't pay enough attention in magic school!"
Lochan heard her of course, and immediately appeared out of the thin air in front of her.
"Oh yeah?!" he yelled with his high pitched voice. "You weren't even supposed to be here in the first place!"
"I'm only here because you drew my attention away from you-know-who!"
"And now you've told them about us you dumb cat!"
The argument continued. Rajkumar and Kala, whose jaws had already dropped from the second Lochan appeared, could only stand and watch in awe of the whole situation.
"Did that flying turtle just appear out of nowhere?" Kala asked with a stuttering voice. She did no longer doubt the fact that Halka was what she claimed to be.
"Yeah, I believe so," Rajkumar replied with a stutter as well, and swallowed to try and ease the pain in his jaw. Halka and the turtle continued to fight over subtle issues, while they both stood there and watched. Rajkumar began to feel almost guilty for starting this in the first place.
After calming down a bit, Halka took a glance at the two lions and realized what she had been doing.
"Oh right, sorry guys" she said a little embarrassed and held her paw towards the flying tortoise beside her. "This is Lochan, he's my partner. He's the one who does the magic and all."
Lochan bowed as well as he could in his animal form.
"I'm sorry you had to see me like this," he apologized. "This is as far as my magic goes in this world."
Kala's smile returned in an instant and rested her huge turquoise eyes on him.
"It's so nice to meet you!" she exclaimed happily. "And don't worry, I think your form is really cute!"
Lochan blushed at her unexpected compliment and it made Halka giggle at his reaction.
After a while of chatting with the group's newest member, Kala turned her head around to find that Rajkumar was walking away from them.
    "Raj, where are you going?"
There was no answer. Kala was about to go after him, when she was held back by Halka.
"Let me handle it," Halka insisted and left Kala and Lochan behind while she quickly caught up with Rajkumar. She tried to get his attention, but he ignored her as best as he could. In the end she jumped onto his back and it finally worked, because he was too annoyed at this point.
"Get off my back, you demon!" he growled at her. "Kala may believe in your lies, but I'm not stupid! You're just trying to trick us, and I almost fell for it! Almost!"
"Wow, what's with the sudden mood swing, Raj?!"
Rajkumar ignored her question and continued.
"And where's Kala? She always chase after me endlessly wherever I go."
"So you're worried about her?" Halka smirked.
"Of course not!" he yelled at her and rolled his eyes.
Halka frowned and got off his back to step out in front of him and stop him from walking further.
"Let me tell you a secret, Raj," her face had a stern look that made him stop immediately. "Do you know why I didn't kill you that day when we met?"
"Because you couldn't defeat me?" Rajkumar asked victoriously. Halka started to laugh.
"I could've easily killed you if I wanted to," she smiled deviously. "I didn't kill you because I saw how much Kala cared about you. She was really worried about you."
"I'm not sure I understand what you're saying."
Halka got a bit closer and looked him deep in the eyes.
"Listen Raj, my only concern is Kala and frankly, I could care less about your wealth being, but Kala seem to like you for whatever reason, and I can't just ignore that. But stop calling me a demon; it's quite offensive towards someone like me! I'm not a demon. I just think you're an idiot."
Rajkumar's expression was blank. He began to believe that Halka was telling the truth. Now that he thought about it, she had been quite clingy and kind towards Kala from the very beginning. Maybe she was some kind of guardian angel?

In silence they walked to where the others were waiting. Kala gave Rajkumar a curious look and he just smiled back at her, wordlessly telling her that everything was okay now.
"Now would everyone please stop being so melodramatic and run away all the time?!" Halka burst out. "We don't have time for that, we got a leader to save, remember?
Rajkumar and Kala nodded in unison as they continued walking. For a moment, they were all quietly walking, just enjoying the noises of the forest and the slight breeze of wind. Rajkumar stopped in his tracks without warning.
"Raj, what's wrong?" Kala asked concerned.
"I smell something," he replied and got in a pouncing position, ready to attack. "We're not alone here."
Lochan squeaked and disappeared in a poof while Kala and Halka hid behind Rajkumar. A faint shadow was spotted in the dark bushes and it was not long before it stepped out and into the light. It was a big dark coloured lion. Rajkumar's pupils shrunk at the sight and whispered in a threatening low voice.
"You."
This chapter sucks! And furthermore, it took so long for me to upload it >.< I think the few people who actually read it have just given up by now :P

Also, it probably full of spelling mistakes I haven't noticed.

Ps. I might make it a comic instead?

(Pps. Me and my stupid projects that I never finish! :noes:)
